Main research fields:

Roman Private Law:

– Latin Legal Terminology,

– Roman foundations of contemporary legal solutions,

– Roman law as the base of European legal culture,

– the influence of Roman law on the contemporary Civil and Canon law,

– Status of women in Roman private and public law ,

– the legal position of actors,

– the law in the non-legal ancient sources.

Roman Public Law:

– the history and development of singular magistrates,

– the cura urbis,

– roman penal law.

The Head of Roman Law Department is the creator of the journal “Zeszyty Prawnicze” and the  Book Series Arcana Iurisprudentiae.

Zeszyty Prawnicze were founded in 2001. Among papers published there on various branches and fields of law, one can find in particular the works of private and comparative law. The editor-in-chief is prof. Jan Zabłocki.

The Book Series was founded in 2009 at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. Its main purpose is to publish scientific monographies:  PhD theses and dissertations, both in Polish and English.
